The TC Electronic Clarity M is a great tool for digital metering and is very useful for audio. It is highly accurate and supports different standards and criteria for audio metering. It has many custom presets for industries such as iTunes music mastering, Broadcast, Cinema and some local loudness normalization. It works with a USB as a plugin mode and standalone audio meter. Customizable and adds a great deal to studio recording. It has a beautiful design and is affordable. It is highly recommended for any DAW you work with. Its only limitation is that it does not have any analog input. You will either have to use an optical or AES/EBU input, but to use 5.1, you MUST use the AES/EBU inputs. The optical input is only stereo and does not have any Dolby decoding. The only way to get AES output from an Optical Bitstream is to purchase a Monoprice Optical-to-Coaxial convertor, a Dolby DP-562 from eBay and Canare BNC to XLR adapters for input.
