The IRWIN Screw Extractor Set, Hex Head, Multi-Spline, 25-Piece 53227 is a set of wedge-shaped (tapered) extractors designed to grip and remove damaged bolts. They can save the day if used properly and work with socket or regular wrenches to turn the extractor counter-clockwise after it's seated to remove the bolt. It is advised to not use a cordless drill to avoid chewing things up. They DO NOT work well with plastic pipe fittings, and if used, the hole drilled for the extractor should not be bigger than one-half (1/2) the diameter of the bolt being removed as it will expand the metal threads to jam it in even tighter. The set includes all sizes from 1/8" through 7/8" in 1/32" increments and is made in the USA. A 3/4 inch multi spline extractor is included in this set. The set does not have a 3/8" drive in the back but has a hex-head and is designed to be used with either a 1/2," 5/8", 3/4", 7/8" or 1" socket or spanner, depending on the screw size being extracted.
