The omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) have been shown to benegfit a wide variety of health conditions affecting the heart, brain, eyes and joints. Thousands of papers have been published on their effects on the body, and the research is not slowing down. Unfortunately most people don't get enough of these important nutrients from their diets, which is why testing blood levels is so important. The Omega-3 Index is a measure of omega-3s EPA + DHA in your blood, but how much omega-3 you eat is only part of the puzzle. Developed By Doctors Dr. William Harris (PhD, Founder) is an internationally recognized expert on omega-3 fatty acids and how they can benefit patients with heart disease. Dr. Harris co-invented the Omega-3 Index in 2004 and made it commercially available to the research community and the public 2009, when he founded OmegaQuant. Kristina Harris Jackson (PhD, RD, Director of Research) joined the family business as a Research Associate in 2014, with a particular focus on omega-3s in maternal health, helping create the Prenatal DHA test and the Mother's Milk DHA test. OmegaQuant has opened an additional lab in Australia to help our Asia Pacific clients, and in Scotland, UK, to help our European clients, officially making our tests internationally accessible.
